This year Tony’s parents and brother were here for Thanksgiving, so we made a pretty traditional Thanksgiving meal for the family…. traditional except for the main course.
Tony went to the local fisheries department and purchased this mammoth, 5lb. lobster! Since we bought him on Wednesday, he had to live in our refrigerator until cooking time on Thursday. That’s right – he’s alive in there! Tony read on the Internet that it is best to dip a towel in sea water and lay it over the lobster, so that’s what he did. We just had to keep pushing his long feeler there back into the fridge whenever we had to get something out!
A little time in the pot, a little time on the grill and we had lobster tail for dinner.
That’s Mahi Mahi in the front, just in case people didn’t like lobster.
The lobster was good, but Tony and I learned what we’ll do differently next time. First, with such a large lobster, we’ll boil it a little longer! Then we’ll pull the meat out and shred it before putting it on the grill with the light cheese sauce. Finally, we’ll have extra cheese sauce to pour on top, along with the garlic butter! It was good, but next time will be even better.
Overall it was an excellent meal, eaten outside on the front porch with the tree frogs chirping and waves crashing. Certainly we all had a lot to be thankful for!
